I have joined up with Diigo- waiting for verification email

I have signed up with Flikr and uploaded pics- lots of them wont load though.

Now going to sit in on the Plan Book session with Steve Hickey-ok, I want to use the Plan Book but setting it up is extremely complicated and i really need someone to sit down beside me to help me set it up. Using technology is great, but it is also very disempowering sometimes.....:( Steve says he will help Maude and I to do this at some point in the near future. Cant help feeling like a dumbo.

So, focussing on using Flickr and Diigo at the moment.

Signed up and played with Bubbl.us Seems like an ok tool for students to use to create Mind maps.

Did my first tagging with Diigo- I see lots of potential for this tool in my subject areas.

Reflection on use of atl tools and iPhoto software...

There have been a lot of interesting i tools shown to us over the past two days. Many of these tools are potentially really interesting, but it seems that there is not enough time for us as teachers to really learn how to use them. I dont think it is enough to just say 'dont worry, the kids can do it 500 times better than you can anyway'! If there is an expectation for us to use these tools effectively in the classroom, then we really need the time to properly learn how to implement them.
I can see how a program like iPhotos is going to be great for many people on both a personal and a professional level. I am already organizing my photos into different books for both professional and personal reasons. In itself, iPhoto is fairly simple to use. In fact, I suspect that iMovie and Garage band are also quite simple to use once we have the chance to learn how to use them. Instructors seem to forget that for many adult learners (which is what teachers are), the learning of new technology is particular intimidating and overwhelming, and more time and care is needed for most to really start to feel like they are going to be able to master this new skill and information.
I liked the opportunity to sit down and work with the program, but I had to choose one and really I want to be able to do this with all of them, in a supervised setting with someone who can answer my questions and help me resolve trouble shooting problems. I think programs like iMovie have a significant application in my Drama classes. This year when I go to record my grade 10 Drama moderation samples, I am going to need to find a new way to record and collate them because I am no longer using Dell and I assume i now do not have access to the program I used last year. I want to know more about iMovie, but I want to have a guided tour, because that is how I think I will learn the fastest.
